Letter from the CEO
Gifted...
That’s how we view the people we reach through the programs we support at the Liberty Mutual Foundation:
gifted with great potential to learn, to heal, to thrive, to grow, and to succeed.
We are proud to support the organizations
profiled on the pages to come. We are especially proud that, despite these tough economic times, Liberty Mutual Foundation
can reach people with the greatest of needs.
While the economy may be turbulent, Liberty Mutual’s approach to philanthropy is steady and consistent. In fact, these
times only remind us of the relevancy of our work supporting basic health and human services and education. More than
ever, we are helping to feed the hungry, educate the poor, heal the hurting, and shelter the homeless.
Our goal is to invest in strong leadership and nonprofit groups that are responsible—groups that deliver solid financials,
sound plans, and clear matrices to measure their success. We expect nonprofit leaders to focus intensely, as we do
in business, on their unique skills and talents; thereby, not losing their direction through mission-creep, or altering
their mission to pursue funding. Ultimately, we believe quality leadership and mission-driven intensity translates
to service excellence for people in need.
We are very proud of our gifts to the organizations profiled on the upcoming pages—because we believe these organizations
are, in fact, a great gift to all of us.
Sincerely,
